Elias Rocks

This tutorial was written for those that have a working knowledge of PSP.

Supplies needed:
PSP9 (any version will work)
Tube of choice plus a close up
I am using artwork by Elias Chatzoudis
If you would like to use his artwork please visit PSP Tubes Emporium
Texture of choice or the one I used by Vix which you can get on her blog here
Twinkle animation here
I have had this for years and I can't remember who it belongs to
If this is yours please email me so I can either credit you or remove it thanks

Fonts of choice - I am using Impact, Bank Gothic

Filters

Xero - Bad Dream
Eye candy 4000 - gradient glow
VanDerLee Unplugged - Interlace
VanDerLee Unplugged - Effects - Disco Lights
If you do not have the effects one VanDerLee Unplugged X has disco lights in there
But for this tutorial the settings will be for VanDerLee Unplugged - Effects

Lets get started

New canvas 600 x 275 flood fill with white
Open up your close up and tube of choice and arrange as below

Close off the white background layer and merge visible the close up and tube layers
Close this layer for now and reopen the white background layer

Using a fat font of choice-I am using impact size 180
Type out the name Elias in capital letters
Convert to raster layer then arrange in the center of your canvas

Duplicate the word Elias-selections-select all-float-defloat
Select the white background layer-hit delete
Close off both the word layers
You should now have this

Keep selected and reopen the merged close upand tube layer
Bring this layer to the top -edit-copy-then paste this as a new image
So you should now have on a new canvas just the Elias word

Back to your main canvas-hit delete
Your canvas should now look like this

Selections-select none
Back to the canvas with the Elias word on-copy and paste that to your main canvas
Now arrange this back into place and move this layer below the merged close up/tube layer

With the merged layer selected-selections-select all-float-defloat
Open up Vix's texture 12-adjust-hue and saturation-colorize
Change the hue to 232 and the sat to 193-copy and paste this onto your canvas
Selections-invert-hit delete -selections-select none
Move this layer below your merged close up/tube layer
With the merged layer selected add a drop shadow of 0, 0, 50, 5.00 black

Duplicate the merged close up/tube layer
On the duplicated layer-adjust-blur-gaussian blur-radius 3.00
Still on the duplicated layer-change the blend mode to soft light-lower the opacity to around 72

On the original merged layer change the blend mode to screen
Still on this layer-effects-plugins-xero-bad dream
You want the default settings so just hit ok

Now the outside part is done we will start on the Elias word we put back into place earlier
So select that layer-new raster layer
Foreground #ffffff-background #e73894
Click on the foreground to bring up the materials properties
Select the gradient tab-use the following settings

Flood fill the new raster layer with that gradient
Move this layer just below the Elias wording we will be working on
Duplicate the word-on the duplicated layer
 Adjust-blur-gaussian blur-radius 3.00
Change the blend mode to soft light-back on the original layer
Change the blend mode to screen
On the duplicated layer -effects-plugins-VanDerLee-Unplugged X-interlace
You want the default settings so click ok

Now you can add any words to your banner and dotted lines/stars if you wish
See set above

Set your foreground to #e73894-background null
Same fat font as before size 180
In capital letters again type out Elias
Convert to raster then arrange as above
Adjust-add/remove noise-noise-use the following settings

Selection tool-rounded rectangle
Draw out a rectangle juts abit smaller than your canvas
Selections-invert-click on the top left corner
Hit delete-click again on the next layer-hit delete
Keep repeating until you have deleted all the excess
Now your whole canvas should have the rounded edge to it
With the canvas still selected-selections-invert-selections-modify-select selection borders
Border width 3
New raster layer-flood fill the selected border with #e73894
Move this layer to the very top-add above noise settings

Now is the time to add your name-I did mine using a gradient also I added a gradient glow to it
Add any drop shadow of choice to your name
Also add propoper copyright info

Now lets animate!

Select the layer we flood filled with the gradient earlier
It should be just below your Elias words
Duplicate the gradient filled layer-effects-plugins-unplugged-effects-disco lights
Using the settings below

Edit-copy merged-open up AS-paste as new animation
Back to PSP--hit undo-then back to the filter
Move the rotation up by 20-click ok
Edit-copy merged-back to AS-paste after current frame
Back to PSP again-hit undo-back to the filter
Move the rotationn up by another 20-click ok
Edit-copy merged-back to AS-paste after current frame
Back to PSP then repeat the above until you get to the end of the rotation bar
The last one you move up will only be by 15 but that is ok
Once you have done all that-in AS you should now have 13 frames
Test your animation and all should be ok if you followed all the above!

When you save it you may need to edit the settings on the transparency tab
So go to save as-hit save-then when the box comes up hit customize
Then the partial transparency tab-have a play and see what works best for you
But these are what my settings are on

Now you can start on your avatar

Back to PSP-new canvas 150 x 150

Now I am going to let you make your own avatar without me going through all the steps
Because alot of the steps I did to make the avatar are above!
So no point repeating myself lol
Once your avatar is made and all correct copyright info put on
Edit-copy merged-over to AS-paste as new animation
Duplicate it until you have 10 frames-CTRL and A to select all
Open up the Twinkle animation supplied
CTRL and A to select all-now we want the colour to match our set
So go to animation-replace colour
Where is says old colour put the colour of the twinkle in there
Under new colour change that to a colour to match your avatar
Click-ok-now the animation should match your avatar
On the twinkle animation-edit-copy merged
Select your avatar frames-edit-paste-into selected frame
Arrange where desired

Test your animated avatar
Once happy save as .gif

All done!!
