This tutorial was written for those that have a working knowledge of PSP.

Supplies needed:
PSP9 (any version will work)
Tube of choice plus a close up
I am using artwork by Elias Chatzoudis
If you would like to use his artwork please visit PSP Tubes Emporium
Texture of choice or the one I used by Vix which you can get on her blog here
Font of choice - I am using Impact, Bank Gothic and FFF Urban


Filters Used:


Xero - Sparkles
Penta.com - Color Dot
Eye Candy 4000 - Gradient glow


Lets get started


New canvas 600 x 250
Selection tool-rectangle-draw out a selected rectangle in you r canvas
Leave a space tho to the left of the canvas for your wording later on
See my screeny below



Set your foreground to #cf2325 and background to #000000
Click on the foreground to bring up the materials properties
Select the gradient tab -use the following settings



Flood fill the selected are with the gradient
Keep selected

Open up your tube and close up-copy and paste both onto your canvas
Arrange as below-selections-invert-hit delete-on the tube layer and close up layer to remove any excess
Selections-invert
Merge visible the tube and close up layer
Duplicate-adjust-blur-gaussian blur-radius 3.00-click ok
On the duplicated layer change the blend mode to screen and lower the opacity to 66
On the original merged layer lower the opacity of that to also 66

You should now have this as below



Open up Vix's texture I used #2-copy and paste this onto your canvas
Your canvas should still be selected-arrange the textureas in the screeny below



Once happy-selections-invert-hit delte
Change the blend mode on the texture to soft light
You will see it is all blended now



Set your background to #ffffff-foreground to null
Using a fat font-I am using Impact size 150
Add the word Devil to your canvas-convert to raster layer
Arrange this in the center like below



Lower the opacity to 40-effects-texture effects-weave-using the following settings



Copy and paste your tube of choice
Arrange over the large devil wording
Duplicate-adjust-blur-gaussian blur-radius 3.00-click ok
On the duplicated layernge the blend mode to soft light
On the original tube layer-selections-select all-float-defloat
Selections-expand by 2.00-new raster layer-flood fill with white
Selections-select none-add drop shadow to the white layer 1, 1, 20, 2.00 black



Now you can add any extras you like
I added a couple of thin rectangles-lowered the opacity to 40
If you add these add one top left and one bottom right
you can also add any dotted lines if you wish
Also any pixel wording



Now we will add your borders
Select the black and red layer we did earlier-the gradient filled one
Selections-select all-float-defloat-selections-modify-select selection borders
Use the following settings



Set your foreground to #cf2325-background to #000000
Click on the foreground colour to bring up the material properties tab
Select the gradient tab-use the following settings



Flood fill the selected border with the gradient
Move this layer to the very top-selections-select none
You may add a dotted rectangle to the border if you wish
Back to the black and red layer we did earlier-the gradient filled one
Selections-select all-float-defloat-selections-modify-select selection borders
Change the border width to 6
Flood fill the selected border with white
Arrange this layer just below the previous border we did
Selections-select none
Adjust-add/remove-noise-use the following settings



Drop shadow 0, 0, 20, 2.00 black

Now we can start adding our word to the left of your canvas

You want a nice fat font-on this set I used Impact-size 90
Rotate left by 90-arrange this into your space on the left
You may need to play with the nodes so the wording fits on ok
But you need to leave a little bit of room for the border will we be adding around your word
See below



Duplicate the word layer-selections-select all-float-defloat
Copy and paste your close up onto the canvas
Arrange over the selected area-once happy-selections-invert-hit delete
Delete the duplicated word layer
Duplicate the close up we just added to the word
Adjust-blur-gaussian blur-radius 3.00-change the blend mode to overlay
Effects-plugins-penta.com-color dot-use the following settings



Back to the original devil word-duplicate-selections-select all-float-defloat
Selections-modify-expand by 3 or 4 whichever suits you
New raster layer-foreground #cf2325-background to #000000
Click on the foreground colour to bring up the material properties tab
Select the gradient tab-use the following settings



Flood fill the selected area with the gradient
Selections-select none
Add the above noise settings

You should now have this



Now its time to add your name and any copyright info to your banner
I added a gradient glow to my name this is up to you

Now we are going to work on animating your banner
You want the Devil word layer we expanded and flood filled with the gradient
Select that layer-selections-select all-float-defloat
Effects-plugins-xero-sparkles
You want to use the following settings



Selections-select none
Edit copy merged-open up AS then paste as a new animation
Back to PSP hit undo 
Effects-plugins-xero sparkles-same settings as above except density to 6
Selections-select none-edit-copy merged back to AS-paste after current frame
Back to PSP and repeat the above once more but change the density to 7
So now in AS you should have 3 frames
Test out your animation-once happy save as .gif

Phew banner done now onto the avatar lol

In PSP new canvas 150 x 150

Selection tool-rectangle-male a selection in the canvas-see my screeny below



Over to your banner canvas-edit-copy merged
On to the avatar canvas-paste as a new layer-arrange it so the tube part is in the center of the selected area
This just saves you getting a background on your avatar and redoing all the tube effects etc
You should now have this



Selections-invert-selections-modify-select selection borders
Use the following settings



Set your foreground to #cf2325-background to #000000
Click on the foreground colour to bring up the material properties tab
Select the gradient tab-use the following settings



New raster layer-flood fill the selected border with the gradient
Move this layer bto the very top-selections-select none
You may add a dotted rectangle to the border if you wish
Back to the tube layer
Selections-select all-float-defloat-selections-modify-select selections borders
Change the border width to 6
New raster layer-flood fill the selected border with white
Arrange this layer just below the previous border we did
Selections-select none
Adjust-add/remove noise-add noise -same settings as above

You will now have something like this



Using the same font you used on the banner
Around size 50-add the word Devil-arrange this in the space at the bottom of your avatar
You may need to adjust it using the nodes make it a little bit bigger



Now repeat what we did on the wording on the banner

Add your name and copyright info-arrange where desired

Once you are happy we will now animate just as we did above
So repeat the steps above for animating

Test your avatar! Once happy save your avatar
All done!!
